Paramount go global

by Mark Rowe

With ten critical security systems using different operating systems, Paramount Pictures, one of America’s oldest film studios, needed a way to streamline how it monitored and managed incidents for improved response times and better protection.

With so many systems, for everything from perimeter protection and fire alarms to intrusion and video surveillance systems, it took multiple operators in the command centre to respond to an incident, not including the responders on the ground.

Hence, Paramount decided on enterprise command centre software (ECCS) from SureView Systems, based in Swansea. SureView’s Immix CC enterprise platform consolidated all of the company’s worldwide security and life safety systems, to be centrally managed. Paramount combined emergency management, emergency response and business continuity to identify risks , and expanded the role of its private command centre to provide 24-7 monitoring of its global operations. This included all offices, production lots, warehouses, active film shoots and more than 250 travelling executives and team members.

Before bringing in Sureview’s Immix CC, Paramount’s security operators might have hundreds of alarms coming in at any time. Now they can see when alarms are activated. The platform presents only the most critical alarms — not every door that is held open too long — which has reduced the number of nuisance alarms by about 90 percent.

Rob Hile, Director of Strategic Accounts, SureView Systems, said: “Paramount made it very clear that they were looking for something different . We showed them our Immix CC framework which was developed to be easy to install, set up, operate and maintain. From start to completion, this project took less than 120 days to move into a full production environment, which is important to a large enterprise such as Paramount. Most importantly, the platform has helped Paramount streamline security operations to boost the safety and security of employees, and better protect its assets.”
