Security at the annual HMV Football Extravaganza (FE) event at The Hilton Hotel on London’s Park Lane on Tuesday, October 14 was again by Cardinal Security.
That marked the fifth year that Cardinal Security had been appointed to manage security at the event. As in previous years, Cardinal supplied a number of security officers who took responsibility for all general and VIP admission entrances as well as any other security needs at the event. In the spirit of charity, a number of the officers were provided free.
The Extravaganza was launched in 1996 to raise money for Nordoff Robbins, a music charity for vulnerable UK children and adults. The event has seen over £5m raised for the charity through celebrity auctions of football memorabilia and artwork. This year’s event honoured Ryan Giggs, Manchester United’s longest serving player and current assistant manager, with a Legend of Football award.
Ryan Giggs said: It’s an honour and privilege to be presented with the Legend of Football Award, particularly when I look back at the list of previous winners. I am looking forward to the event, celebrating with friends and colleagues and raising money for Nordoff Robbins music therapy, a really incredible cause.”
Ryan Giggs was joined by former United teammates Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, and Bryan Robson. The event raised £402,000. The band Stereophonics performed.
