Eurovision CCTV

An IP video system for safety and security for spectators and performers at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) finals in the Malmö Arena is by Swedish manufacturer Axis Communications.

Ray Mauritsson, CEO of Axis Communications, said: “We’re pleased and proud that the Malmö Arena chose Axis cameras for coverage of this prestigious, internationally acclaimed event. It’s extremely important that guests, artists, and organizers are safe and secure during the contests.”

The ESC is expected to attract more than 100 million TV viewers and up to 10,000 visitors to the arena, on 10 separate occasions.

ESC organisers set image-quality and safety standards for the installation. The network-based CCTV cameras enable HDTV picture quality, remote access with retrievability of material via the internet and high light sensitivity for reproducing colour images in tricky lighting.

“During this project, we’ve worked very closely with Axis so that together, we get a solution aligned with international surveillance requirements during the contests,” said Peter Narbe, head of Security, ESC 2013.

The ESC will be telecast from Malmö on May 14, 16, and 18.
