Data site

by Mark Rowe

PHS Data Solutions, a sub-division of the PHS Group, has opened a new site in Leyton, east London.

The firm says that the addition of the contemporary 35,000 sq ft facility and its proximity to central London will enable PHS to provide a greener, more efficient data service to its many city-based clients.

The new site consolidates traditional records management services with both vault and media storage capabilities alongside a scanning bureau, in-house digital mailroom, failover disaster recovery facilities and an engineers’ centre.

Anthony Pearlgood, pictured, managing director, PHS Data Solutions, says: “The new information management centre brings records management and data capture solutions together under one roof, making it both convenient and cost-effective for clients. Currently, we are seeing extremely high demand for data capture and management solutions, which has prompted us to invest strongly in more integrated physical service provision. Initial feedback from customer visits to the site has been extremely positive.”

PHS has a number of other hubs across the UK, including Glasgow, Exeter, and Hayes, which also serves part of the M4 corridor and west London. Some 36 staff are employed at Leyton. The site can run 24 hours a day and has CCTV coverage and electric access gates. It has capacity for about 300,000 archive boxes, with scope for expansion.

Earlier this year, PHS became the first recognised centre in the UK to gain accreditation to deliver a bespoke Information Destruction Operations (IDO) programme from the ‘Skills for Security’ awarding body. The qualification allows PHS personnel to be trained in-house on the secure preparation, collection and destruction of confidential waste.
