Nearly 150 people at the 13th Worshipful Company of Security Professionals spring dance helped to raise more than £27,000 for charity.
The event at the Rembrandt Hotel in west London was in aid of causes such as the Hackney Carriage Drivers Disney Tour for terminally ill children; and the Security Benevolent Fund; for those that have been employed in the security sector and require a helping hand, whether because they have become careers, or need a mobility scooter or other help for disability.
Lots were donated, some money cannot buy, such as a trip on naval frigate to visit the Jersey Boat show; dining donated by Mark Brown of audit firm EY; Baroness Ruth Henig’s donation of tea at the House of Lords; Thorn Security Products’ VIP pits pass during the UK Super Bike season; a session in understanding bomb disposal; a fly fishing experience by Openview Security; Battle of Britian memorial flight event tickets for the sold out event from Wilson James; and Kempton ladies day tickets from SSR Personnel.
Peter French of SSR, the dance organiser, pictured, said: “We have a tremendous amount of support both pre and during the event and without these members efforts we could not raise the money we have over the years, which is now over £275,000; and we want to break the £300,000 barrier next year.” The 2017 spring dance date is Saturday, March 4, again at the Rembrandt.
