Greg Stuttle, the Business Development Manager of perimeter intrusion product company GJD, and David Stones from Secure One in Leicester, have completed a charity cycle ride onto the Continent. Greg also took part in a couple of other rides for charity.
At 8am on Saturday, September 3 with another 150 cyclists, they started the British Heart Foundation London to Paris (Versailles) on road cycle event.
Greg Stuttle recalls: “On day one we completed 68 miles (climbed a total of 1,550 ft) and then crossed over to Calais. On day two we rode 84 miles (climbed a total of 2,895 ft) to Amiens and then on day three we covered another 93 miles (climbing another 3,805 ft) and finished at the Palace of Versailles, on Monday, September 5.
“In total we covered 245 miles in some quite challenging conditions. Day two was very windy and on day three it rained pretty much all day. There was great camaraderie from everyone taking part and it was very satisfying to tackle some very large hills and raise money for a worthy charity. We were part of a group of five and it looks like between all of us we will have raised over £4,000. There were many personal bests for everyone taking part. For myself it was the third time I have completed this ride and once again I rode in memory of my dad who passed away in 2012.
“It looks like the challenge for next year will be London to Land’s End, which will be a 350 mile route over four days!”
This year Greg’s also completed the London to Southend 65 mile ride and the Ride London 100 Mile closed road event in July – raising another £500. On the Ride London he completed the ride with Mark Smith from SSG Woolwich.
