Cannabis factory reminder

by Mark Rowe

Police have issued a reminder of the tell-tale signs of a cannabis factory – defined as a premises adapted solely to cultivate drugs. Signs include:

– A strong, sweet, leafy odour coming from an address;
– A constant low humming noise;
– Windows blacked out or curtains drawn all day;
– Large silver ducting tubes coming from the property;
– Powerful lights on at night;
– Residents not living at the premises full time, only visiting for short periods; and
– Fertiliser regularly being taken to the property.

For a recent court case of two men jailed over cannabis farms in Halesowen and Derbyshire, visit the West Midlands Police website.

Anyone with information on cannabis production or dealing can call Crimestoppers anonymously on the freephone line 0800 555 111.
