Frontline award hailed

by Mark Rowe

Lorraine Mansfield, Strategic Accounts Director at the contract security company VSG, part of Compass Group, won the Frontline Award at the annual Women in Security event. More about the awards, announced on September 22 at the Security Institute’s Gala Dinner in London, in the November 2016 print issue of Professional Security magazine.

The Women in Security Awards recognise the accomplishments, value and contributions of women within the wider world of security, and were set up by Professional Security’s long-time columnist and contributor Una Riley; see her article in the October 2016 issue of the magazine.

Lorraine is responsible for VSG’s high profile clients in the City of London and Canary Wharf. VSG says that Lorraine, a former police officer, has made a significant contribution to developing a framework for private security companies to work alongside the City of London Police.

In 2002, as a Superintendent in the City of London force, Lorraine set up the City of London Women’s Network to assist recruitment and retention, and help women to achieve their full potential in the City of London Police. Lorraine continues this work which has extended to the business community, and now chairs the International Women’s Day breakfast event committee.

Since joining VSG, Lorraine has introduced the Secured Environments accreditation, a police certification scheme, to her clients. It covers principles for protecting themselves against crime.

Lorraine said: “I am extremely humbled to have won the Women in Security Frontline Award. Since joining VSG I have continued to consider the safety of our people and clients as my top priority. I believe it is essential that anyone with the requisite qualifications is considered on equal merits, no matter their background, gender or sexual orientation or any disability. The breadth of roles enables all of us who are responsible for recruitment to establish parity for those wishing to be part of the security industry.”

Barry Dawson, Managing Director at VSG, added: “This award is a great accolade for Lorraine and highlights the dedication and hard work she has put into her role as a Strategic Account Director. She is a valued senior member of our team and is a respected and effective a mentor for her team, setting high expectations of herself and those that she works with.”
