In
January 2004 the Guild of Security Professionals’ Petition for
recognition as a Company without Livery was recognised by the Court
of Aldermen.
As the Company of Security Professionals we are currently at the intermediate
stage towards our avowed aim is to submit our petition at the end
of 2007 for recognition as a Livery Company of the City of London.
A part of the criteria for this final step is to have more than £300,000
in the Company’s Charitable Trust Fund and £50,000 in
the General Fund. Due to the hard work, support and generosity of
our Members it is good to note that we have already exceeded this
target. It has also been recognised that our aims and objectives are
serious and well founded, and that we do not conflict with the interests
of existing Companies.
Membership of the Company is drawn from the Security Industry in its
widest sense and includes leading security professionals from the
industrial and retail sectors, serving and retired members of the
police and armed services, security consultants, academics, heads
of security for corporate businesses, investigators and electronic
surveillance companies.
The Court of Assistants is the governing body of the Company. It shall
have a Master, Senior Warden, Middle Warden, Junior Warden, Past Masters,
and no fewer than eight and no more than twenty Freemen of the Company.
Throughout the year, the Company organises social and other events
for Members and their guests. These consist of Dinners, Luncheons,
Church Services, Charity Fundraising events, and visits to places
of interest, along with other social gatherings where Members and
Guests may meet.
