The
Master’s Charity 2009-2010
Child Victims of Crime and the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals Charity
The Masters Charity this year is split equally between Child Victims of Crime and the Charity of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals.
Child Victims of Crime was established in 1994 in response to a need to help victims following a terrorist bomb explosion in Warrington.
CVOC was born in adversity but has gone on to help thousands of children who have suffered trauma, distress or poverty as a result of criminal offences.
It is a registered charity and is administered by a Board of Trustees which includes Chief Officers serving and retired officers and civilian and police support staff.
The need is enormous and the help that is provided is limited only by the amount of funding available.
There are four key areas of help provided.
DISNEYWORLD, FLORIDA HOLIDAY
Funds permitting - In effect our "gold star" award. Each year we try to arrange a one week long trip to Disney World in Florida, with places made available to individual children and family members. Accompanied by charity Trustees, this is an award that really does help "turn nightmares into dreams come true".
FUNDING FOR COUNSELLING
We are able to provide funding for private counselling sessions.
ADVENTURE/ACTIVITY BREAKS
Funds permitting we arrange activity centre breaks for children who have endured traumatic experiences, encouraging friendships and peer support to develop. As well as having the opportunity to "just have fun", the break encourages the re-discovery of a level of self-confidence and self esteem.
OTHER AWARDS
We also provide awards such as High Street store vouchers, bikes, days out at theme parks or sporting events.
THE ONLY THING WE DO NOT PROVIDE IS CASH
The charitable work of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals is well known to you all. In this harsh economic climate the free cash flow to support our charitable objectives has been diminished and it is my wish therefore that half of the Masters Charity be directed towards the work of the Trustees.
I am very grateful to Richard Monk the Chairman of the Trustees and all the Trustees for the work they do on our behalf.
